The Electron Transport Chain, Overview

to the StudyWalks catalog
State

The electron transport chain is a series of membrane protein complexes passing electrons from NADH and FADH2 to oxygen, pumping hydrogen ions across the membrane.

Show

Oxygen is the chain's final electron acceptor, combining with electrons and hydrogen ions to form water.

Watch for

The chain itself makes almost no ATP directly — it builds the gradient the next step spends.
