Converting Between Temperature Scales

Converting between Celsius and Kelvin means adding or subtracting the fixed offset between their zero points, since the two scales share the same degree size and only the starting point differs.
To convert 25 °C to Kelvin, add roughly 273: 25 + 273 = 298 K. To convert 310 K back to Celsius, subtract the same offset: 310 − 273 = 37 °C, normal human body temperature, confirming the arithmetic runs both directions.
Fahrenheit conversions are not a simple offset like Celsius-to-Kelvin, because Fahrenheit degrees are a different size — the full formula scales by 9/5 (or 5/9 in reverse) before shifting the zero point, and skipping that scaling factor gives a wrong result even when the offset direction is correct.
