State

A covalent bond is the attractive force between two positively charged nuclei and a shared pair of electrons positioned between.

Show

In a hydrogen molecule, H2, both hydrogen nuclei are held together by one electron pair shared between the two atoms.

Watch for

"Shared" does not mean split evenly in every case — later chapters cover how unevenly two atoms can share that pair.
