The Pauli Exclusion Principle

State

The Pauli exclusion principle states no two electrons in one atom share the same complete set of four quantum numbers.

Show

Two electrons in the same orbital, sharing n, l, and ml, must carry opposite ms values.

Watch for

This principle limits every orbital to two electrons, since only two spin values remain once n, l, and ml are fixed.
