Every measurement carries three parts: a number giving magnitude, a unit giving the standard of comparison, and implied uncertainty.

Reporting a dose as "100 mg" states a magnitude and unit; the number alone could read as ten times intended.
Watch for
Dropping the unit is not a shortcut — a bare number can be dangerously ambiguous, as with a dose in milligrams or grams.
