The Moral-Progress Problem

If cultural relativism is true, moral progress is impossible; a change in a society's code is movement, never improvement, because no standard outranks the code.

Call the end of legal slavery progress and relativism corrects the verb: the code changed. Better requires a measure the theory has removed.
