Tracing a synaptic signal means following it from threshold to spike to release to binding to clearance, naming each structure in order.

One signal followed the whole way at honest pace: threshold crossed, sodium in, spike down the axon, vesicles fuse, transmitter crosses, receptor binds, receiving neuron moves toward its own threshold, reuptake clears the gap. No step skipped, including the two that happen simultaneously.
